Cellulosic Ethanol Demonstration Biorefinery under Construction

"The Celunol facility in Jennings is the first demonstration plant under construction in the U.S."

The Jennings facility is based on a subsidized raw material (sugarcane). Therefore, it will not be a viable long term project. Pine wood chips is a much better alternative.

This ethanol refinery will used the cellulosic material left over from sugar production. This material is underutilized in the U.S. today, so this is a step in the right direction. We will need to use other materials as time goes on, and this technology will allow such an expansion.
